AMCOL Household & Fabric Care has developed a range of bentonite products designed to offer softening through the wash benefits, combined with prolonged textile life. Our bentonite clay has been used extensively within the detergent industry for many years. As part of AMCOL International, the world’s biggest producer of bentonites, the company continues to invest in fabric care research.
Dry blending of granular additives to laundry product formulations saves manufacturers time, effort and money. Powder agglomerates, containing active components, are the building blocks of modern day laundry products. AMCOL Household & Fabric Care offer a range of granular additives designed to provide functional performance via simple dry blending.
Ease of Incorporation - AMCOL Household & Fabric Care granular products are easy to incorporate into formulations by direct dry addition. This reduces the need for short runs of speciality products on your plant and minimises multiple clean-downs leading to improved efficiency of both plant utilisation and raw materials.
Increased Control of Addition Levels - Dry blending gives excellent control of dose levels, reducing wastage of expensive active chemicals. Granules are available in carefully defined particle size distributions to reduce the likelihood of segregation during formulation, storage, packing and shipping.
Ease of Handling -Household & Fabric Careactive granules reduce handling problems associated with conventional powder additives. Granules are low dust and free flowing, which is important in feeding post addition systems for all processes.
Product Differentiation for Consumers - Consumers identify product quality with distinctive product characteristics. Coloured speckles (visual cues) and fragrant perfumes boost consumer brand loyalty. You can differentiate your product simply and effectively by addingHousehold & Fabric Carecoloured and/or perfume granules.
Performance Benefits for Consumers -Household & Fabric Carecan produce to order additive granules including many other performance enhancers, zeolites, brighteners, photo bleaches, etc. In addition to the granules,Household & Fabric Careis able to offer stable, high solid content bentonite slurries that provide long term fabric care for consumers. Furthermore, bentonite slurry can stabilise liquid based formulations.
The use of bentonite clay in a detergent formulation provides softening through the wash benefits by depositing the clay onto the textile. The level of softness is cumulative, dependent on the number of washes the fabric has. By continued washing the bentonite deposited onto the fabric is released and replenished by fresh bentonite clay. This deposition mechanism provides three additional fabric care benefits:
Typical addition levels of bentonite of 10 - 18% in the final detergent formulation are the industry norms.
Bentonite is a naturally occurring alumino-magnesium silicate with no added organics. Established as a wash component for many years, bentonite is still compatible with the latest state-of-the-art wash formulations.
