Quest™ Bentonites

Bentonite is a natural clay of the smectite family. It's platelet structure makes it a versatile mineral used in detergents as a softening agent.

Other applications are in civil engineering, the foundry industry, paper mills, cosmetics, and oilfield drilling..

Bentonites are available from AMCOL Detergent Specialties in two forms.

The first is a Calcium form which doesn't swell or gel in water – common applications in European fabric wash conditions.

The second is a Sodium form which swells and can form thixotropic gels in water – common applications in dilute and cold wash conditions (Asia and The Americas) .

Products for the detergent industry are normally supplied as granules, but certain applications can be better optimised using the powder forms.
